AKINETON (tab, 2mg BT X 50)
AKINETON (biperiden) is an anticholinergic drug that selectively binds to M1 muscarinic receptors, which are primarily located in the cerebral cortex, hippocampus, striatum, autonomic ganglia, and salivary and gastric glands.
AKINETON was first introduced in 1955 for the treatment of Parkinson’s disease and drug-induced extrapyramidal syndromes. Today, it is approved and available in more than 40 countries worldwide.
In 2007, the WHO included biperiden in its “Essential Medicines” list.
Tablets of biperiden hydrochloride for oral administration.
Indications:
- All forms of parkinsonism
- Extrapyramidal symptoms of drug-induced etiology
